Redbud Classic is committed to providing a safe and fun event for all participants and volunteers that will promote fun, fitness and philanthropy in the Oklahoma City community. As part of this commitment, the safety of all participants and volunteers is paramount. We know that weather in Oklahoma can be unpredictable, but in the event that threatening weather conditions (Tornado, Thunderstorm/Lightning, Ice/Snow, other major weather condition) are present the day of a Redbud event or local weather forecasts indicate a high likelihood that conditions will be present during a Redbud event, that event may be delayed or canceled. Due to the outdoor nature of the event, all participants, registrants and volunteers who agree to participate in the Redbud Classic in any manner does so subject to the terms of this Redbud Classic Weather Policy and by such participation in any manner authorizes Redbud Classic to take whatever actions deemed necessary to comply with the Policy in its efforts to preserve public safety. There will be no refunds for any Redbud event if it is cancelled.
Because of Redbud’s agreements with host cities regarding a fixed amount of time for use of roads and the time commitment of public safety or law enforcement officials, Redbud Classic, at any time, reserves the right to cancel or modify any of its events to comply with inclement weather conditions that may make any course unavailable or unsuitable for participation. In addition, Redbud Classic reserves the right to modify or cancel post event activities to ensure participant, volunteer, and community safety.
Any decisions regarding cancelling, postponing, or altering event start times, distance, etc. will be made by the Redbud Classic Race Director. Often this decision cannot be made until the day of the event due to the unpredictable and emergent nature of threatening weather. Redbud Classic will make every attempt to notify participants by email, Facebook, Twitter, and with web site updates at www.Redbud.org, as soon as possible.
In the event that threatening weather conditions develop during the event, we will do everything in our power to alert everyone on the course. Race officials will immediately communicate with police, who will immediately begin directing participants to safety. We will do everything in our power to assist those who are still on course. If you see lightning during the event, you should seek immediate shelter. If no one is there to help you off the course, please do everything you can to keep yourself safe and take shelter. Again, if you are told by a race official or police officer to reroute and take shelter during the event, know that the event has been officially cancelled.
If the need for cancellation arises, please be reminded that there will be no refunds of registration fees. In addition, due to the required coordination with local public safety and approval from host cities, it is not possible to reschedule the event to a later date. Because the Redbud Classic is a non-profit organization that provides financial support to a beneficiary organization, we are unable to offer refunds.
